Got a WASR

Well I got a good deal on this WASR 10 today at a gun show, so "what the hell" and bought it. I am very pleased with this one: Smooth action, aligned sights, and just a bit of magazine wobble. Nothing too bad. I will be refinishing the furniture to an authentic Soviet-esque looking AK (do you guys recommend a certain brand/colour of stain I should puchase?) as well as exchanging the pistol grip with a Soviet surplus red one, and of course a bakelite mag to go along.

Thanks guys, thought I'd share my excitement :D

Thanks from anagram-sam

I just replaced my wood furniture with black plastic and put an ace folder on mine.

Remember that your pistol grip is a part that makes the rifle BATFE compliant.

I don't get it, I can't put a bakelite grip on it instead?

If you install a foreign made pistol grip you must install another U.S. made part to keep the rifle 922r compliant. Most people change the gas piston.

i'd just keep the black grip. most AKs with wood these days still have a black grip and they look fine.

i like the reddish stain myself.....very Soviet looking. and get yourself a bayonet. AKs should be evil all the way.

don't mind the Kalashnikitty or dirty clothes in the background.

.

Thanks from Swamp Rat

That wont work. There is a parts list you MUST comply with so that your rifle is legal. Do yourself a favor and look up 922r and read the list of parts.

I was just kidding of course, if only it was that easy. Thanks for the heads-up.

Please listen to these guys. Do not run afoul of the ATF. Your freedom and your ability to observe your 2nd Amendment rights are not worth a pistol grip.

After looking at the 922r list, I swear, this country has some dumb laws. Thanks again for the info, I was unaware of this (first time with a foreign assault rifle).

Luv the kat btw, but I wonder what you're doing with your pants off and your rifle out. Has this got sumthin tah do with the bayonet? Do you have a "thing" goin' on here? Please let the cat get out of the room first; they can be so sensitive!

I would dearly love to know, however, what WASR stands for! Seriously.
