I had a Valmet in 7.62 NATO, with a built in bipod.
IMHO, the Valmets are the best of the AK type.

YardDogOne: Sorry I missed selling it to you. Less than 300 rounds through it, three Valmet mags, two bulgi mags, tool, manual, original receiver cover with shell buffer, Valmet scope base mounted on spare cover with rail and red dot scope. I'm the original owner. Could have saved you the shipping, transfer, etc. Hey, you could always own two.

Lucky guy! Wish I still had the M71S I sold in the early 90's. Needed money then and had to part with it. It was a great shooter.

There's one thing about exotic high dollar rifles such as the Galil and the Valmet...

In hard times they are much easier to get your money back out of than run of the mill hunting rifles that you can buy at Waldo World. If you bought the Valmets, Galils or preban M1-A's back in the day such as I did my preban. Today it is still brand new in the box and is unfired after all these years. Back in the Spring of 94 I paid $800.00 out the door for an SAI preban with USGI parts in a nice commercial Bishop walnut stock. I could even make money on it today if I sold it, if you factored out the diminished value of the American dollar.

Back around 1989 or so I bought Chinese 7.62x39 steel core ammo in 1440 round cases for $69.00 that the government later banned the importation of. A while back I saw it listed on the web for a dollar per round. I could make lots of money if I sold the cases that I bought way back then but it's not for sale.

In the case of the exotic assault riffles, if you find the right buyer who wants it badly enough, perhaps you can jack the price up enough so that you might even beat inflation... Which would have made the purchase better than money in the bank as a long term investment...
