gransfors bruk

I recently bought one of their axes. Made in sweden the old way. My axe is a forest axe or limbing axe which means it is smaller than a traditional axe and is used to cut the limbs of off felled trees. A seriously awesome axe. Sharp as all get out. Perfect size to strap to a pack. Great steel and great handle. Well worth the money. Definitely coming with me when the time comes. Anyone out there have any preference for an axe? Would love to hear about it. The only down side to mine is that the poll cannot be used as a hammer as it will distort the shape of the head. It is an axe and not for smashing anything with the blunt end.

These are pretty good. Strong and fairly light weight.

I took 3 of them to Zimbabwe for my PH and his crew to use.

Elephants constantly push trees over the "roads".
There is not doubt they do this on purpose...

These Eastwings are much better that the local "axes" they make.

I did bring 2 of the local made "axes" home with me for display.

Should check out the hunter's axe. The swedish forest axe is real nice. Very well made. Hunter's axe has some rings on the handle carved in to prevent slippage. Real handy

I like Fiskars products. I bought a shovel they made and I think it was called the "world's toughest shovel" It was a beast of a shovel, virtually indestructible. When it comes to hand tools it is hard to beat the scandinavians. IMHO.

I think mine is the same model. Love it. They have REALLY gone up in price since I bought mine about 6 years ago.

Definitely not cheap. I really like their products too. First time I use it was to cut the limbs off a tree I was removing. Went through a 2.5". Limb and almost through my calf. I went back to the chainsaw thinking it was safer. Great axes.

I own the hunter model by Gransfors Bruk, which is great for skinning and limb cutting!!! Also own the Estwing campers axe and the Norlund felling axe for tree work. They all work great for me.

Estwing, small hatchet, hand ax, and the larger ax, love them all and they are great tools.
Recently I have been watching Ray Mears video's and he is big on Gransfors Bruk, it given me the itch for one of their ax's.
The 'Wetterlings' company is very similar also, actually I think they may be owned by Gransfors Bruk.

Thanks from BlackArrow
