I have never attended a Rendevouz "per se" except for quite a few spring and fall national shoots at Friendship on the primitive range in buckskins and period cloth clothing. Even owned half interest in a 24 foot front to back lodge (Tipi) for a few years. Lodge poles were about 32feet or maybe 35. A lodge is a wonderful way to camp as long as you have the pack horses or truck to haul the poles and lodge cover.
Hawks and belt axes are a constant source of discussion on may "peirod" forums. Many of the originals had blades smaller to much smaller than we use today - even on military expeditions and by Long Hunters. Of course a bigger blade makes it easier for some folks to stick a hawk in the wood. Since I no longer compete in tomahawk throwing, I prefer a smaller axe with a pole on the rear to use as a hammer.
