As I have stared on another post...
I was a Butcher for several years.
I kill a lot of wild game, including pigs and the wife and I eat the meat, so I still do a fair amount of Meat cutting.
I have used my Randall knives a bunch and they are great Steel, with great handling...
There are a few Original Randall dealers in the USA.
Silver Dollar Pawn in Texas is one of them.
They have a standing order for Randall's.
I have bought all of my Randall's from them. Now it has been several years since I have bought one, but they always had them at the factory price, never any premium.
Give them a call.

Randall 10/5
Just so you know...
Randall's Plain Jane Model 10's are perfect for everyday use..Kitchen, workshop, tackle box.
Randall 10/7
Nothing fancy, just pure utility.

Model 19, custom made for NASA's Mercury program and carried into space by the Mercury 7 Astronauts.
I think at least 1 is housed in the Smithsonian. | If you go back and look at either Randall's site or their catalog, I believe you will find that is a Model 17 Astro, not a Model 19. The model 19 is a hunting knife.

| Here are the ones from my family
The first picture shows my model 3 5" from 1967 (an old 7 spacer model), a model 1 6" from the late 70's, and my son's Model 19 5" that I gave him for his 16th birthday. (He's 30 now). The second shot shows my Model 3 and the model 1 with their original Johnson roughback sheaths. I got the model 3 new in 1967 when I lived in Orlando and took it down to the Randall shop in the middle of their orange grove on what was then the south Orange Blossom Trail. I got the shop foreman at the time Wayne Potts to polish in the finger grooves, notch the back of the blade for thumb placement and etch my name on the blade. I think all total it cost me $37.50 including the knife which I bought in a local gun shop.
Since then that model three has dressed and skinned a lot of coyote's, a fox, three pronghorn antelope up in Wyoming, a dozen or more muleys and white tails and one bull elk. It never let me down and I loaned it to a family member to go to Africa on a trip he took. I've always cleaned and oiled it after use and it looks almost as good as it did the day I bought it but the sheath has obviously gotten a lot of wear and several coatings of hot mink oil. It still has the original hard Arkansas stone it came with.
The model 1 has been with me for a while and is a late 60's knife but it's not seen any use by my hands at all. Just in reserve until I needed it and now it's going to be off to a dealer for a consignment. I did have it on the BX but no one was interested. |

You won!
I put that in to see who'd notice...It's corrected to a Model 17 Astro.
Here's another View to be sure we can identify as Model 17 Randall Astro |

Just at a gun show this Friday night, lots of Randall's there but too high in price! One guy had a nice Vietnam era #1-7" but it did not have the desirable stainless blade or micarta handle. Here is a picture of one that I picked up in a good deal late last year.
I also saw a lot of M1A's at g-show, mostly Springfield. Nothing under $1,300.

I own and use a Model 5 and their 'diving' knife, model # escapes me for now [edit: Model 16] . I use the 5 for hunting and the [M 16] knife for utility and comfort during wilderness-type travel. I got the sawtooth option on that one, so it's very handy for quick-notching wood for building temporary leantos etc. The comfort aspect especially comes when for instance gangs of yahoos turn up and start to booze nearby. That makes 'wilderness' more like 'inner city'.

On a lot of different forums, many people critize the Randalls for not being "truely custom" made knives. They consider them "semi handmade production made" or some such other description...
Well I am not a "Collector" of knives, [not that there is anything wrong with that], I am a USER OF KNIVES.
As a side notice, once upon a time for seveal years I was a Professional Butcher, so I have done a lot of meat cutting.
And I have done all of my own wild game butchering/proecessing.
As I have stated before I have found the handling, and the steel in Randalls, both the tool steel, and the stainless blades to be very good.
They cut well, remain sharp for a long time, and are easy to sharpen.
They are an excellent users knife, and maintain their value...
