In San Soo we train with and have forms using two hawks.
Hey they have some nice hawks.
Thank you.

As a forward observer one day I found my self in the 23rd Infantry Regiment Hq's. I was looking at all the pictures of past regimental Commanders when I got to a Vietnam era commander it made me pause he had a gunslinger belt with a nickle colt single action in it.
About that time the Sergeant Major came out and told me that Commander would give out tomahawks after operations to recognize outstanding soldiers. Unfortunately after awhile some of the guys got a little to deep into the whole tomahawk persona sort of speak and they had to be collected up. To this day they are still known as the tomahawks. Weather it is because of this incident or predates it I don't know. Good bunch of guys I'll never forget them.

While not issued to me, I carried a Cold Steel Vietnam Tomahawk while I was on active duty on the Corps. In Mogadishu we were trying to get some very quick intel from a Somali lad of about 18 years. 6 Marines with M16A2's and SAW's just weren't frightening him enough to make him cooperative. I handed off my weapon and drew my tomahawk, advancing towards him. His eyes grew bigger the closer I got. I gave him a firm tap upside the grape with the flat of my 'hawk and he was suddenly very forthcoming.
