M6 Bayonet

While my Loaded is not lugged yet, I can see that happening soon. Real soon. If it's lugged, I need a sticker.

Problem is, every site search I do has them listed as out of stock or discontinued. Before I bought my M1a, I saw M6 bayonets everywhere and for cheap !! Now I can't find one to save my life. I almost resorted to a reproduction. Excuse me, gotta rinse the bit of vomit that rose up into my mouth.....

My question is; do any of you old heads (not a derogatory term, "old head" is someone that has been involved in something for quite some time) know of a place that sells USGI M6's for a decent price ? I don't need the sheath, as my dad stocked up on them years ago for some unknown reason.

Ironically, in the mid 90's I searched all over for a USGI M7 to give to my Dad. I couldn't find them. Took a while but I found one, brand new with a sheath. Now THEY are listed on pretty near every site.

IMHO, that price seems a little steep, but then that might just be fallout from me being an Old Head.

Note to self; Millennial's calling you old head is a sign of respect and affection. (Who knew?)

FYI, the Government has recently been reducing it's stocks of M9 and M7 bayonets, so lots showing up on auction sites.

Thanks from M14vrp

If a millennial calls me an old head, he will get a swollen head!

FYI....I was born in 1961..I'm a tail-end Baby Boomer, I couldn't be further from being a Millennial...besides, Millennials know everything already, they wouldn't be here asking questions...

And yes, Old Head is said out of respect. Many friends and family are firefighters and they use that term to describe the guys who have been in for a while and know whadehell is going on.

M6 Bayonet

$70 for a NOS M6 is very attractive.

I spent several hours yesterday looking for an M1942 or M1905 for the M1 and 1903s. They are not $70.

Thanks from MudPie

I did find a USGI NOS M6 for 59 bucks on a site called Florida Military Supply, but I've never heard of them. A quick web search had nothing but bad things to say about them; orders never came, weeks before their "in stock" items were then claimed to be out of stock, refunds took forever, etc.. Of course, people only complain online, they never compliment, but it made me leery.

I'd rather go by what is said here, I trust you guys a lot more than some random posting from random people. You guys say it's legit, I take that to the bank.

Get the Simpson Ltd one. They are good people to deal with. I have bought from them before.

Old Head is one I've never heard before. So I kind of figured if I do hear it in conversation it'll be more likely from at least a tail end gen-Xer or later. Unless it's one of my fellow boomers who's catching more of the younger folks jargon than I've been.
I'm still a bit undecided with the new generation. At their worst they can be down right embarrassing. Fortunately I know at least a few that leave me with hope for the future.
I'd be cautious about doing business with a place that I was unfamiliar with too. I've posted here in the past about a lot of foreign copies of U.S. bayonets I've seen that are very cheaply made. IMHO, the Simpsons example looks right and at least Luigi, and flyrod40 here have had a good experience with them.

What's the old adage ? "You snooze, you lose." ?

Last night I saw the bayo offered on Simpson Ltd., as was suggested by luigi. I didn't order it last night, thought I'd do it now.

Sold out.

Oh well. Hopefully someone here scored on that bayonet.

Be careful buying sight unseen. Many M6 bayonets were assembled from parts. They appear brand new. The hilt is welded to the blade and the stop is incorrect. You can find them for as cheap $35.00. But sometimes they are passed off as original. Do a search on this forum and you will learn all you need to know.
