Question on M8A1 Scabbards

Ater a quick search on the Inter-web it looks like NIW ( USGI ) M8A1 Scabbards are not to be found ?? Not looking for the Germany Ones..

Any Ideas where I can turn one up ?? Ozark seems to come to mind but can't find them on the web anymore?

Ren when did you change your screen name?

NIW M8A1 scabbards have kind of dried up over the last couple of years. Fulton had some a while back, that is where I got mine. Used ones show up now and again at Charlie's Surplus and Numrich sometimes will have some. Try asking here in the market place and keep looking.

Tom

I did a couple days ago. My XM25 project has really taken off and now seems to have a life of its own, I just wish it had its own bank account. I am getting close to having the (my opinion of course) premier XM25 build.

Just when I thought it couldn't get much better, I find a US military issued with serial number BPTco. mount and the BPTco. Night Vision scope adapter to go with it.

This build will be as correct an XM25 as can be expected.

Hence the name XM25Ren, even the serial number of the receiver will be XM25.

Thanks from Glashaus

Omaha's Surplus has some Vietnam era M8A1's from sealed boxes or plastic wrap. They appear to be "PWH" marked ones. IMHO, they seem to be a little higher than I'd like, but I'd call them and clarify if your buying one each sheath or one package of two sheaths, big difference.

Justin,
I'm going to keep the second one and stash it. If I have picked up one thing from this crazy hobby...it's get it while its available because it might not be there at a later date or you will pay double or more later..

Your quite welcome. Just remember, don't put a NOS M6 into the M8A1 sheath even once. The retaining springs inside the sheath will mare the parkerizing even if you do it only one time.

Don't want to hijack this thread, but I thought it is relevant...
Can any of the experts recommend a way to remove the green corrosion "stuff" off the snaps on these scabbards (and other things) without damaging the finish on the snaps themselves or the cotton webbing material?
Thanks.
