Rivets needed for my Ontario US machete

I have a older Ontario US machete with the name going under the top of the blase. Nothing fancy. The grips are off and was wondering where I can get replacement rivets? Should I just call Ontario Knife Co? Thanks.

That seems like the logical place to start.

If Ontario can't help. Look for cutlery rivets. You can find sources on line and even check out installation instructions.

Take the grip with you and go over to your local Mom & Pop hardware store and fish around in the screw nut & bolt section. Thinking you can find something that will work.

I had gone to a couple of the local hardware stores to see if they had the right rivets and they didn't. I also looked around for screws and nuts. I would have to modify the grips which I didn't want to do.

I called Ontario about a hour ago and asked about the rivets. They are sending me a set no charge!

Thanks from jmoore and drobs

3/17,
Did you receive the rivets from Ontario and did they work? I also have an old Ontario 18" USGI machete with two loose rivets that have resisted tightening and one that is lost.
BTW, are they one or two piece construction? Did you have to use any special tools/equipment to securely fasten? Were instructions included or they simple enough to use by "Bubba"?
Thanks.

I received the rivets. They are two piece Male and female. No instructions on installation. No special tools required. One side I had a thin cardboard over a flat steel bar and then top I used a piece of brass and then tapped with a hammer.
Pics attached. Grips were chipped around the edge of the holes. I figured that they would be okay and will match the blade.

Thanks 3/17. I'll contact Ontario this week regarding the rivets. I guess failing after 30+ years of use isn't to bad. ;-)
