ESEE knives are kinda like the M14/M1A... They have a diehard fanbase.
The ESEE 5 is my go to knife for the woods, and I keep it in my bugout bag. It is 1/4 inch thick 1095 steel, and feels very heavy and solid in the hand. Excellent at chopping, just a little slow at batoning, but you know you won't bust it. This knife replaced my LMF as my go to big knife, and now the LMF sits on my battle rattle, probably never to see the woods again.
The Izula was the gateway for me. I love the little knife for doing anything I just dont need a huge knife for. It is also made of 1095 steel, and holds an edge through a lot of work. I use this knife as a neck knife in the woods, but right now it is in my urban go bag.
The AH1 is kind of a novelty to me, something I thought was cool and picked up just for that. However, it fits well in an Altoids tin survival kit, and can be used to strike a small ferro rod, be converted into an emergency knife, or if you please, you could probably use it as an arrowhead.
Anyone else using the ESEE blades?
