Devine TX, serial #19xx

Inherited this beauty which appears unfired. Strangely, it has a red stained birch stock with selector hole filed it and a buttplate that is parked over pitting. Sanded smooth with no proofs or cartouches. Beautiful stock, but I doubt this rifle left the factory with this stock on it. Any thoughts?

Replaced it with tiger stripe walnut USGI stock in perfect shape last year during a visit to Fred's. Had this stock sitting around and wanted to learn more about it. I found pics on the net of low serial numbered Devines with stocks that had selector hole filled in and that appeared sanded smooth, so this stock might be original.

I think what others are trying to say is:

Without pictures of the rifle in the stock showing a Devine address you have nothing but a stock
