| Found out I have a Devine NM M1A # 002747
Hi folks, I was referred here from another Board that I frequent when I posted a thread about a Glass Bedded NM M1A that I got in trade about 18 years ago. I called Mr Elmer Ballance in Devine, Texas and he confirmed it was built in 1973. I just put the Sadlak mount and a Kahles ZF-84 6x42 with BDC (calibrated for the M118) on it. Have a can of Lake City Match and hopefully will take it out this weekend.

Hi Jojo
Welcome aboard. Saw your posting and thought your serial number sounded familiar. It is exactly 50 less than mine. It's not a NM - just a Standard....mine that is, not yours.

RT 1 BOX 3360 DEVINE TEX It is on one line, on the underside of the barrel and part of it is under the knurled gas thing. Actually about half of it is. It does not appear to be hand stamped or stamped at all. The letters are very crisp, in line and perfectly shaped so it's not electro penciled either. Hope that helps.

Does the text look like it was engraved on the barrel?

Tried to take a picture of the markings but they keep washing out with the flash of the camera. Will try it in the day light.
What does the marking mean...........
It looks just like this as far as the method of putting the marking on the barrel and is actually in the exact same location

I know that doesn't help much. Was expecting to see something definitive. Guess this just adds to the mystic of those rifles.
There is also a number 2 molded/stamped into the underside of the front of the handguard which is brown on the outside but silver on the underside.
