.... | Welcome, CMI Joe! When I bought 5 of the 25-round mags in 2008, they had the 20-round springs in them, and did not meet the USGI follower pressure specs. Thew were 11" long, and the 25 rounders need at least 13" length.
See http://www.eotacforum.com/viewtopic....69277#p3369277
Also, the springs had "nicks" at the bends, again, not in accirdance with the USGI drawings...
See http://www.m14tfl.com/upload/showthr...hlight=jbrooks
I bought 25 of the 20-rounds mags and found a number of dimensional differences, compared with the '60s USGI mags, of which I had 10. Seems the 2006 run of CMI mags had a QC problem,
See http://www.eotacforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=108&t=53879
Where Different summarizes my test results compared to the USGI mags.
There are numerous reports of CMI mags being too tight in LRB receivers, just do a search on this forum and also Eotach...
Most of these problems occurred in 2006 to 2008. Hopefully things have tightened up at CMI...
Now, to CMI's credit, y'all make one hell of a well-heat-treated mag body... See http://www.eotacforum.com/viewtopic....queeze#p473405
where it was almost impossible to get the mag body back into USGU specs...
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions,

Hi Joe. Welcome back
I have been using CMI's since about 1987. No complaints at all, and I have a LOT of them.
Thanks for making a great product.

Thanks again everyone for the support.
Phoenix -- I will take a look at those threads, Thank you. I see no reason in reviving the "nick" issue with the springs, we beat that horse to death.
I will review our old inspection records and see if we were in fact running at the high end of the range on past runs. All mags are ran through gages both before and after assembly to check for proper fit in the receiver.
If you are having any issues with any products you bought from us, please let me know, and I will either have them fixed or replaced for you.

I spoke with CMI Joe and the President of the company at the 2010 SHOT Show. I finally got around to checking my mail and found a very nice follow up letter and a factory brochure from CMI in my mail box. I learned from this brochure that even the steel used to make CMI M14 magazines is milled in the United States. |

Thanks for the offer to send new springs!
As my "squeeze tests" proved without a shadow of doubt, the steel and heat treatment of your mag bodies is simply outstanding. I guarantee that none of the other non-USGI mags I tested can hold a candle to yours.
And, NO, I did not squeeze any original USGI mags, they're simply too pricey for me to see if I can destroy them...
Thanks, Joe!

just received my 5 CMI 20-round mags from 44mag.com.... they arrived very quickly (less than a week), and the Mags look great.
they seem to a little tight in my M1A, but i think they just need a little break-in.

I just got 15, twenty round mags from 44Mag.com. While compairing them to a G.I. mag, the forward section of the followers seems a little narrow or the body a little wide.If I push the front of the follower to the side, it will tip slightly and come out of the mag a little. Only opened 3, but all three did the same. These functioned flawlessly in three different rifles. Maybe I'm to picky, I don't know, but I'm going to order 10 more.

We have purchased over 30K CMI mags for the M14EBR-RI program to date with only one failure documented. I use them in my own rifles.

Nice mags and having 25 rounds of 30cal is awesome. Did your company ever manufacture 25 round mags for the Navy before making these for the American shooter??? I compared your 25rounders to some unlabeled ones purchased at a gun show. The welds look very similar. Those are also a hair longer than the CMI and hold 26.
