IMO, whatever you're doing right now to survive, that's what you've got when SHTF. whatever you've been practicing, that's what you have and whatever you've aquired( unless you lose it in the SHTF), that's what you have.
Anyone who's seen I-75 when Florida tries to evacuate North( in the event of a coming hurricane), or ( insert metropolis here) outward, you know that all roadways become parking lots, sitting ducks to BG, mini shopping marts, that you may well have to abandon.
AFA delusional, imo, what's delusional is to think you'll be able to aquire the tools and seeds and livestock and skill needed to have a self sustaining food supply after the SHTF;
That you'll be able to dress up like a LRRP and walk around the countryside, scavenging.
That you need a gas mask or body armor;
That you'll engage in sustained battles with groups of raiders( or anyone);
That you'll be able to BO to the hills and live off the land.
IMO, the reality is to get into that lifestyle now, become the gray man and live under the radar and have a network of barter buddies.
We moved to our BI homestead( 5 acres- half pasture, half woods), 3 yrs ago and raise rabbits, goats, chickens, ducks, geese and dogs. We get eggs and milk and make cheese( cottage, cream, soft and hard) and soap and have meat and collect and boil and filter our own water, right now. We have means to cook outside. We have Black and Blue berries, Plums, Loquats, Kumquats and Bananas, growing wild here. We're less than a mile from a large creek and 2 larger rivers. We have kayaks and have been kayak fishing and camping for almost 6 yrs now. I can tell you, it takes a few years to work out the bugs and get things thriving.
