Never owned one of those Glocks, and probably never will. They may be as reliable as some say but to me they are plastic, foreign, and fugly. I prefer the 1911 in .45acp. I got a few of em.

I have heard that polymer handguns are more prone to cracking etc when chambered in .45, was that Glock torture test 9mm or .45?

I believe he said it was a Glock 19, so 9mm.

HK Mk 23 is the best .45 IMO, so long as you got the hands to wrangle that beast. Otherwise the HK45T and HK45cT are smaller and can be had with the LEM trigger. http://pistol-training.com/archives/2714

I voted 1911. A lot easier to handle than the G21 even with the SF variety. 1911 points naturally and has a wonderful trigger and less felt recoil than a G21. I've fired both and own a 1911 so that's my choice.

Good number and relevent to the thread.
See even you an adamant 1911 guy agree that 21 is better.

I voted glock just because it is polymer and probably lighter to carry and carries more rounds

I have a cheap 1911 and an HK45. the weight difference is huge therefore the HK would be the one going and not to mention the undeniable reliability.

13 rounds doesn't make the glock king over the 1911 unless you're a bad shot........

Thanks for the comments about the 1911s guys. Took a long time of gun trading to get it to what it is today.

Since the 1911 was my first love and my first new pistol purchase...this is somewhat difficult but...

I'd have to go with the Glock...simply because IMO it's more reliable out of the box and almost bulletproof in it's durability.

Just my .02

A steel frame 1911 wins the durability argument hands down, and durability is paramount if SHTF.
