GeneCo; With all due respect it's the world news I like to know about. Not that Christie is lowering the flags in NJ to half staff and what's everyones twitter opinion. I want to know why a plane went down if Africa with our people on it. What the inspectors in Iran are being told and what they are not. Why the Afhgan's are upset over a rumor and how so many of the peasants heard about it. What the Greeks are going to enjoy with their current bail-out and how long this donation is going to last. Where are the Brits and Franks going to get their oil. Why we have a carrier group in the Persian Gulf, (sp).

I'm not railing, it's just stuff I'd like to know. Somethings I can prepare for, some I can't. We do what we can, but it's nice to be informed. That's all I'm saying. We aren't getting it on the evening news here. They skip over it like it's dog doo on the sidewalk.

Not I've gotta run Kathie Lee and Hodda are on.

Al Jazeerar I believe is oly on the weekends here. That's when I see it. Though it may be on very late at nite.

Semper Fi,

Thanks from jim-analog and bigbang

I don't think I would have heard about NDAA if not for the BBC and Facebook. Don't laugh: Like many sources, it's a good place to start the search for more details.

I learned this while working on my master's degree: Everything the US media tells you is slanted at best, and outright lies at worst. I was mining the academented databases and absolutely appalled at how the media get it wrong virtually every time. Once is coincidence, twice is suspicious, three times is enemy action.

Times are coming when you won't get three strikes. BTDT, and have the scars to prove it.

Greetings,

Hi GeneCo!

Thanks for your reply. Well, I'm not sure if foreign sources are necessarily going to be *the* optimum sources, but they can certainly be an addendum to domestic ones. My initial inquiry was regarding any sources of intel beyond the usual channels. There are typically many sub stories in any given large scale event that don't see the light of day till sometime after anything can be done about them.

Consider the confiscation of firearms in NOLA; I was not aware of this while following the CNN and MSNBC coverage as it was going on. Also consider the .gov statements/actions/in-actions during the same time. A particular illuminating event for me was watching Anderson Cooper walking down the streets early on noting the dead bodies and other assorted carnage while the LA Senator on the audio talk back was complimenting the other government departments on the great job they were all doing.

Desert Storm was long over by the time anyone heard of "gulf war syndrome" or the contamination due to depleted Uranium projectiles.

Somehow, all the WMD in Iraq vanished by the time our troops arrived, but the domestic media was fixated on the Jessica Lynch episode.

I've tended to be skeptical of just about anything coming from .gov since Daniel Ellsberg leaked the Pentagon Papers.

Regards, Jim

lets face it, the media in America is in Obamas pocket, they will cover every little thing Bush did, but not 1/2 the crap Obama pulls. If Bush signed NDAA theyed be screaming about it, but he didnt Obama did so silence. Even FOX has started culling the true freedom loving non centrists liberals like Judge Napolitano and his show about the Constitution and our Rights.

Face it, the MSM is state media now, and wont tell us whats really going on

Thanks from stoky

I appreciate what you're saying, but I'm not sure that foreign media is any better than our own. Also, I'm not sure that ANY "media" is a good source for intel. IMO, all intel will have a bias and slant.

AFA gun confiscation in NOLA- NRA, GOA, et al, had it out within 24 hrs.. Local news had the grandma who was arrested for not leaving, that sparked the outrage. Sites like this are great sources for intel.

There are many 2nd A groups and truth.orgs that follow every move.

No better intel, for instance, as to what's going on in Greece and Syria, et al, than Twitter and Youtube.
