| New SHTF Movie coming out
It's called Remnants, and is filmed by an independent film company. Instead of EMP, apparently some astronomical event knocks out the power grid and reverts America to the SHTF scenario everyone talks about, namely lawlessness. Check it out. |

hadn't heard anything about this , looks like more realistic shtf than normally gets made, most to sci fi , road warrior/book of eli, something like " the road " gives a little more realistic look at the true misery that a shtf situation would be

It looks intresting. It leaves me wondering why there are so many SHTF movies in recent years. Whether it be astroids, zombies, viruses or what ever. It leads me to think that there might be some sort of subconscience public feeling of a SHTF event. Maybe it could be a new common movie theme?

Greetings,
I think that post 9-11 and the Katrina aftermath, personal security is much more up front in the public consciousness. People who had no reason for "fear" prior to that now seem to realize that living in the US does not guarantee their safety as they may have previously believed. The media (and gov) then feeds that with films, books, TV, etc.. Just my hunch.

If you have the skills and supplies to make something for the prepper community, I'm pretty sure there is big money potential there.

But here's something to think about. I rode out and lived thru Katrina. My neighborhood and town didn't have any problems. We banded together, pooled our equipment (it is amazing what people have!) cleared our streets without "gummint" help, patrolled them and lived through it well. I cannot tell you how proud I am of my neighbors. Not every place will degenerate into a Book Of Eli/Road Warrior lifestyle.
Of course, it's best to be prepared.

Better yet, I'd like to see Jericho continued, or a new similar series. Maybe a continuation of the After Armageddon show on History
