I think I'll go out and buy some of the tin can/sealed plastic lid variety of Folgers. I think they are around $5 to $8 a can? $50 worth should be quite a bit of coffee, and if it all goes bad in 5 years I'm only out $50.

Buy a supply, then replace cans from that supply one by one as you use them, and you'll always have a stash of fresh coffee!

Folgers is one of the hardest on the stomache because of the oils in it.

I read an article not too long ago by some coffee expert who was talking more about flavor than storage. It said the oils were the key to flavor and they started to go bad the moment the beans got roasted. It was talking about getting the beans and doing your own roasting for the best flavor.

Sounds like the factors we want for storage are the opposite of what they want for flavor. I've gone back for seconds on some pretty rank coffee when that's all there was. I don't really care as long as it's not one of those candy-flavored coffees.

That stuff's got a MINIMUM five years. Keep 'em in your basement where you keep you battlepacks.
