| 550 Paracord Sinnets
Finally decided to buy some to keep handy. Did some searching around and found a pattern I liked from a seller on eBay, a gentlemen who claims he's a veteran running the business out of his home. $9.89 shipped for 100' of cord. Don't know if that's a good price, but it's the first time I've bought any, and I'm happy to buy American and help a vet at the same time.
So here's what I got:
And with about an hour and a half of handiwork while watching a movie:
Will tuck nicely into a bug-out-bag, hiking backpack, car camping kit, or in my console in my truck. I'll definitely be buying a few more 100' sections and making more of these "donuts". That length of cord turned into about a 5" wide donut that's about 1 1/2" thick. Not too shabby for it being the first time I've done it.
Anyway... figured I'd share this with you all in case anyone hadn't thought about keeping some extra rope/cord handy for if the time comes.

I made collars for my friends pit bulls using the cobra stitch out of para cord. Lots of stuff you can do with that weave. All these "tactical" survival bracelets I see guys wearing are the same thing.

I'll buy a couple or three.

What's the difference between 550 and "Type III" 550 as noted on that site?

So it's the same stuff. Not sure why they call some of it out as 550 and other as Type III 550. Oh well. Always good to be better educated!

Dang: That site is out of both Olive Drab and Multicam. I checked out shipping costs to me. $6 for 1000', and $7 for 2000'. I guess I'll wait until it's back in stock and order 2-3 spools all at once.

Sometimes you'll see people advertise '550 paracord' or just plain 'paracord' when its one of the lesser varieties as shown in the chart...
That stuff with no core... It's no good for anything other than as a cover for dog tag chains. I used to use black cord i gutted to do this. Makes it a little bit more comfortable for me.
The heavier duty stuff thats rated to 750 pounds isnt worth the loss of length per pound.

I always keep a fresh 1000 feet of it hanging around .
The stuff is like duct tape, you can pretty much do anything with it.
Except maybe make a 14 .
