It is a full sized 98 action, so a K98 or Vz24 stock should fit. However, the barrel length will be a factor, especially if you plan on ever attaching a bayonet. Polish stocks are out there and are not in as high demand (or price) as German K98 stocks, so I would go with what it originally had (and figure out exactly which model it is, first).

Nice find.

I picked up a german 98k 8mm with a sewer pipe bore for $20. I picked up a like new in excellent condition Czech 8mm large ring barrel in 8mm for $37. I installed the czech barrel in the german 98k and its headspaced perfectly on the go gauge and the bolt won't close on the no-go gauge so its dead nuts perfect after all thre both manufactured on the german machinery anyway. I got the scope mounts from samco global arms for $16. The scope and rings came from CDNN its a lilitary style 3 post scope for $29. I needed the czech handgaurd its a tad different than the 98k handguard cost $24. I refinished the orginal german 98k stock and applied 10 coats of tung oil. I built her for under $150 plus she is a looker and purdy too. She looks like a german sniper rifle. I just wanted an extra hunting rifle in 8mm mauser with its 196gr soft point bullets it will bring don anything in north america. The czech barrel from numrich e-gun parts appears to be brand new with thick rifling too for $37 i should of purchased 10 of them. My point is there are a lot of thse old war horses taht are looking for a good home since there already house broken and there still are plenty of the orginal parts to be had really cheap these can make great accurate rifles at affordable prices. Bill

Being a military surplus collector i like to build my hunting rifles from parts and i like the military look too as long as they can take the X ring out at 100yds there good to go. At www.samcoglobal.com there still offering the 8mm mausers and complete rifles or barreled actions for sporter projects and builds.

K98 8mm 1928

Nice rifle. I found one at a yard sale 30 years ago and the 1st thing I did was, had a sporting stock and sights put on it in place of the original parts. Probably a mistake but it shoots perfectly. 8mm K98 FB Radom 1928 is the model. I still need to have it blued. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
Congolf
