Two of my shooting partners have R5's and one of them has two! From what I've seen and read, the R5's are pretty awesome right out of the box.

I noticed that in my local gun shop, the R5 bolt cycle was much smoother than a Rem 700 PSS.

IMHO, although I don't have one, it seems that most favor the R5 over standard Rem 700's. I've seen them on the SniperHIde for about $875. My friend who has two R5's paid over $900 and says both were worth it.

One of his R5's has a Jewell trigger and a muzzle brake and that's about all he would consider for this rifle.

Good Luck.

Aloha,

Tom O.

Picked up my 700SS R05 today -- what do you recommend as one piece 20mm cant rail and rings?

I bought mine back in Jan and like it so far. I haven't really spent the "quality time" with it like I should but, soon, very soon. haha I have big plans for it. First will be to do a decent trigger job on it. That's about the only negative thing I have to say about it so far.

I agree mine is ok no creep and breaks clean but is heavier than I like despite the X trigger hype.

The X-Trigger does feel Xtra heavy -- but breaks VERY clean.

NIghtforce bases, NIghtforce 5-22x going on later today.

Ive had a 5R in 300 win mag for a few years. Its extremely accurate, badger is a exxcellent cant base, so is the warne. Ive shot under quarter inch with it. Mine has a 6.5-20 leupold mark 4, love those leupys
