I have one and absolutely love it!! I have a Night-force NXS 5-22 scope with a 20MOA mount, Muzzle Break & Harris bi pod in a 300 Win Mag.

Go with the 20MOA rail if you want long range. that way you have more adjustment in the scope, I keep mine zeroed at 150yds.

I am shooting sub MOA at 600yds and an striking 18" target at 1000yds (supported prone) with 168grain HPBT from HSM. Smiley faces on silhouette target.

It is a little bit heavy to take with you if walking through the woods hunting (unsupported/freehand), but works excellent in Long Range and/or stand.

It also kicks less then my stock Remington 700BDL 30-06, but with a whole lot more behind it.

It seemed like to me it took about 75 rounds to break in the rifle/barrel. I did see the groups get smaller and smaller. Not really sure if there is an actual break in??? but I seemed to have had it........

The Remington Model 700 Stainless Special Milspec 5R certainly is a fine rifle. I have the set of three .223, .308 and .300 Win Mag.
All three have Jewell triggers and have been bedded including a muzzle brake on the .300. All three are topped with Nightforce NXS 3.5-15X50 scopes in NF short rings and using Warne 20 MOA bases.
The .308 is zeroed at 200 and I have shot it out to 900. The .300 is zeroed at 300 and has been shot out to 1000. I zeroed the .223 at 200 last week and will be developing loads and playing with it for a while just to see what long range potential it has. When you get it properly tuned with a load and bullet it likes you can expect 1/2 minute accuracy or less when you do your part.
I am sure you will like yours as well as I like mine. These rifles were built to shoot.
