If you find a pre64 mod 70 for that much your hand better be a blur to your wallet. After 64 they went to a Remington style push feed extractor. In 92 they came out with a "classic" model with the pre 64 controlled round feed but kept a locking lug groove bolt guide. Like I said if it's a pre 64 action, don't waste time getting it because if I seen it you would Miss out... A pre 64 action alone usually go for around 1k or much more..

I like the Win.70 myself ,those old school wood stocked ones are really nice to see .

I looked over a new Featherweight the other day. Pretty nice rifle (pricetag was very nice considering the quality of the thing--$800 for a really nice piece).

Dunno about the stainless/plastic ones though.


I have a late pre-64, and I think they're way overrated. My 80's era XTR model 70 is a nicer rifle.
