If you are looking for accuracy, I'd go RPR and save yourself money probably and have greater accuracy.
Lightweight, folds up small. Recoil is less than M14 but that doesn't have much recoil to begin with.
But it's apples to oranges really. All depends on what you want to do with it.

The M-14 and it's variants are not designed for accuracy. Pretty much any bolt action rifle of decent quality will leave our girls in the dust.

That's outstanding! What scope did he have on it? I would love to have one in 6.5, or maybe a Savage 10BA Stealth.

Awards Showcase

I've fired the RPR in .308 at 200m. It is impressive with proper ammo.

Some of the parts "feel" cheap, but at that price you can't really complain.

M14 mags may need to have the top of the backside opened up a little to keep the bolt from rubbing.

For the dollars spent the Ruger you mention is a bargain with all the features it offers aside from being an accurate rifle. Local fellow bought one in 6.5 Creedmore and he claims it is the most accurate rifle he owns and he owns and shoots quite a few custom built long range rifles. It's a 5R hammer forged barrel and from what I am told much better barrel than Ruger used to offer for their rifles and the barrel is the heart of the rifle and with good solid platform for stock it should be accurate and it can be modified using various AR items if so desired, you can make it to your liking for very little effort and cost.

If you throw in the fun factor, the M14 wins hands down. Period!

My Tikka T3 Lite SS could do that all day. Sold it and shoot an M1A that's less accurate, but way more fun.

I have 2 T3 lite rifles that will do that, but like you said they have their place and that's filling the freezer. The M1A is much more enjoyable for just plain out wasting ammo.

Thanks from High Hat and Rich D

I have four M1A's and one RPR in 308. I'm covered. By the way, making small groups at distance is fun too! My RPR has a 5X20X50 Quigley-Ford scope on it. What a piece of glass in that scope.

I had twins also. Fantastic triggers. One in .308 and one .223 I used for prairie dogs, but now I have the .17WSM for that. Love my .17 WSM.

Mine are 300WSM and 204ruger. The 204 has zero recoil and is very fun to play with, I use it for coyotes and other varmints. I would love to shoot prairie dogs that would be great fun to me.
