Weatherby Vanguard date of mfr.

Hi Guys, I'm looking at a local listing on a Vanguard in 30-06 for sale. The seller has given me the ser # of vs64685. I tried looking for a date of mfr and so far have come up with nothing. My google foo is weak. Any body have an idea when this rifle was made. I'm really wanting a Vanguard2 which were made after 2012. The price seems fair and the pics look good. Any body want to talk me out of buying it? I posted the question on another site and all I got was good reviews. People that replied seem to like theirs a lot.
Thanks, Dave.

info@weatherby.com(weatherby vanguard i think is made by howa). send bolt in for warranty repair.

just a safety fyi;
Howa old bolt recall experience
I recently purchased a used Mossberg 1500 30-06 from a relative. In the process of researching the serial number I came across the Howa 2002 recall on the bolt. This recall affected rifles manufactured by Howa including rifles sold under other brand names. A phone number was included in the web page. The phone was answered on the second ring by Sports World, Inc. in Tulsa. I was told a postage/insurance paid kit would be sent to me at the end of the week. I received it at the end of the next week with a SFRB and full instructions. I mailed it out on the 23rd of March. Their receipt said they received it on the 28th, it was mailed April 1, and it was back in my mailbox on April 4th.

I want to compliment Legacy Sports and Sports World for this excellent service. I did not expect such a rapid response from a 13 year old recall.

If anyone has a bolt rifle made by Howa, a simple call to Sports World to check on the serial number will determine if the bolt has been corrected or needs to be sent in. The phone number that I called on the web page was 800-456-5131. Check the web page to see what serial ranges are affected. Sorry I don't have that address handy but a simple search will turn it up.

Thanks from fastdadio

One the most accurate rifles I own is a Weatherby Vanguard 223REM......it's about 12yrs old. Threw a Timney trigger on the action, and threw the action in a Hogue fully bedded stock. Topped it with a modest 6-18X50 Hawke 30MM Endurance with the 23/308 marksman reticle......it's a fantastic walking G'Hog rifle......no ground grizz is safe out to 400 yards using the reticle aiming points with factory Hornady 40gr Vmax.

And yes, the action is made in Japan by Howa......butter smooth.
