Meh ... the 6.5 Lapua doesn't offer anything over the 6.5 x 55 or the 260 and ammo is 2x the cost of either. Like I stated earlier, the 6.5 x 55 will do anything and everything the 6.5 creedmoor, 260, 6.5 Lapua and others will do and I have a stockpile of brass.

The only deciding factor for me is the platform. That's why I chose the Ruger American in 6.5 creedmoor or Howa Mini in 6.5 Grendel.

I am still leaning towards the 6.5 x47 Due to the compatability with a M14 mag and bolt face
The x55 is too long ,Grendle too short Lapula and creedmore is jussst right

I'd go with the 6.5 Creedmore in the Ruger American, but I think the .243 Win is a more versital cartridge and it's what I stated my son on for his first big game rifle, he's 16 now and it's still perfect for what he hunts, deer and pigs.

My 591 Surgeon precession rifle is chambered in 6.5 Lapua, it's an expensive cartridge to get into being as how Lapua factory brass is all there is. Who, other then a custom shop, makes a deer rifle chambered in 6.5 Lapua?

I would go with the Ruger in 6.5 Creedmore.
I think the Creedmore round will be easier to get, I would look getting a Ruger precision rifle if you could afford it.
If it was for me I would go .243 Win just because you can get ammo anywhere and I have never seen a .243 that won't shoot tiny groups out of the box!

Casey

Thanks from MeatyMac

Why not a lightweight ar in 6.5 Grendel?

Howa mini in 6.5 Grendel. Ammo is pretty cheap too and the ballistics are great with half the recoil of a .308

His age and purpose of the rifle?

If he is young, Grendel as a starter should be a lot of fun. Very economical cartridge with low recoil. 20+ grain powder will push the bullets at very respectable speed.

If he is old enough that he may want to play with long range shooting soon, 6.5CM will go long way before he feels lack of power

Cannot go wrong with either choice!
