New toy... Swiss K31... Pics added...

Hey folks,

Super jazzed. I picked up my K31 Swiss yesterday. Beautiful rifle. I really lucked out with this example -matching numbers, troop tag, original Swiss leather sling, like new metal, bore, finish, etc. She came dressed in a beech stock that has little wear. I can't wait to try her out with a half case of GP11 I got.

The straight pull is super sweet. It sounds so great when working the action. The trigger is pretty darn good too -huge amount of creep in the "first stage," but very easy, clean break on the "second stage."

I will be posting some pictures later this evening once I get my hands on a good camera. No smart phone for me...

Any thoughts on refinishing the stock? Any thoughts on the Swiss Products Saint Marie clamp on mount (steel vs aluminum)? Any thoughts on optics?

M

Edit: Pics or it didn't happen! The last pic shows the most bluing damage on the entire rifle. The picture, in fact, makes it look worse than it is. It is hardly noticeable, if at all, with the naked eye.

"Beech stock has little wear". I think I'd keep it original..

It may have been sanded as the Swiss stock mark is a bit faded? That is the only down side to this bangstick.

It is a very good, accurate bolt gun, along with the swedish m96, it won almost 80% of all vintage medals.(don't quote me on that, just my observation). It is very capable hitting waterjugs out to 1000yd with a scope. (Look for it on youtube)

I had a s&k scope mount with a ncstar long eye relief scope. It is inexpensive, but still very impressive. Pm me if you want more info.

Have fun!

My only concern about scoping the K31 is the offset axis relative to the barrel. That would take some getting used to.

I have a feeling this is not the last K31 I will buy...

Mine was a bit more than that, but it is a later production example. It also is in phenomenal condition. I see some going on GB for over a grand right now! Wow!

Any serious collector/shooter should own one in my opinion. The supply is dwindling. And those who have them don't often sell them.

It would be interesting to get a cheap one, and then sporterize it with modern equipment.

It is odd. I have spent years going after semi-autos. My interest in bolt guns has grown a lot lately. I just couldn't get myself to go after a traditional bolt gun -there are so many to choose from and they all look the same. I wanted something unique.

It is funny you mention the Swedish M96. That is next on my list of military surplus rifles. I am also of Swiss and Swedish lineage.

A supplier with piles of 7.5 55 is less than 100 miles from me. I really like the packaging of the GP11 -so Swiss.

What is it about the K31 that makes it so accurate? Also, what keeps the lugs from unlocking in the action while shooting?

Edited: Answered my own question via the interwebs.

Thanks from Dougboffl
