I only missed the target once, but by the time we got around to the K31, we were very low on light. At 50 meters, I shot some decent groups despite the low light. But wow does 7.5 Swiss do a number on 3/4" steel! Huge dents -likely 1/8" of steel removed from the surface. The smacking sound of the 7.5 Swiss hitting steel at 300 meters was impressive. On steel, 22 LR is to 300 Blackout as 300 Blackout is to 7.5 Swiss.

Recoil was similar to a 308 bolt rifle. Not bad, but more than my M1A (bolt vs gas system).

The accuracy of the K31 is impressive. I think I will put a scope on her as I just picked up a Vortex Viper 3.5-10 50mm. Not sure if I will move my Leupy (40 mm) from my M1A to the K31.

Do 308 bore sights work for 7.5 Swiss?
I don't think the .308 boresight will work in 7.5 Swiss. The 7.5 Swiss bore dimensions are larger than the .308/7.62 so you will have chamber slop. http://www.go2gbo.com/forums/hr-cent...-to-7-5-swiss/ Boresight the old fashion way by removing the bolt and use a clamped rifle rest. Look down the bore and center it on target bull and clamp the rifle. Then adjust your scope. 25 yards will get you on paper and you can adjust accordingly.

What is it about the K31 that makes it so accurate? Also, what keeps the lugs from unlocking in the action while shooting?

This is the concept Eugene Stoner took to the next level! Straight pull bolt carrier with cam actuated bolt. Just added gas impingement.

I have owned a couple of those and both were great shooters. .308 dia bullets are the way to go, if there is any difference in bore dimensions over standard its not enough to contemplate. BTW, don't confuse the slack of the two stage trigger with creep, not the same thing. I prefer a two stage trigger in all but hunting rifles. Both the 31's I had, had sweet light triggers.

I shot a 2 MOA group a couple weekend ago with irons from the K31. I was pretty pleased with this.

I can't wait to put a Swiss Products scope mount on this thing. I swapped out my Leupy 3.5-10 40mm to a Vortex Viper 3.5-10 40 mm on my M1A. The BDC on the Vortex will serve more function on the M1A. I can't wait to try the Leupy on this K31!

I've wanted one for so long... If I can find a .308 conversion for a price that won't kill my wallet...

Why a 308 conversion? GP11 75 55 Swiss is great stuff. It only runs about 50-60 cents a round, and is borderline match grade stuff.

Maybe so but I haven't seen 7.5 here in along time.

7.5x55 Swiss has a better ballistics coefficient than 308 for the most part. It sure makes noise. I will admit the felt recoil was a bit more than I expected. I am used to my 308 M1A gas gun. That K31 steel butt plate doesn't help.

In case you haven't seen this. Don't know if it's of interest.

When you shoot .308 dia bullets in the Swiss it does not change the coefficient of the bullet, its still a .308 bullet of given weight and shape. The coefficient is the properties of the bullet itself, not velocity. The Swiss round is about like the .284 Win in design, size and capacity but not interchangeable. As loaded by the factory its about the same as the .308 Win. I still have some GP11 around but K31 to launch them from. I wish someone would make sporting bolt action rifle in this cal. I think Steyr did once but I have never seen one.

I pulled a round apart and this is what I found. 50.0 grs of extruded powder, similar in appearance to 4895 but who knows? Bullet weighed 174.2 grs. and was measured at .308 diameter by micrometer.

I was simply saying the 7.5x55 Swiss generally has a better ballistics coefficient than most 308 factory -at least those that I can find. For example, Hornady 168 BTHP has a BC of 0.450. GP11 has 0.505 to 0.514 from what I can find.

Hornady 178 308 has a BC of 0.530.

Gotcha.. you are speaking of an individual bullet, not the cartridge, because both rounds shoot the same caliber of bullet. The shape of the bullet I pulled certainly does have good looking aerodynamics and with its weight it would have a very high BC.
