Kind of sexy. Should be able to find them for less than $1K once the initial rush dies down.

I took the RPR out to the range this morning to zero. I fired 120g Hornady A Max and 140g ELD Match. I was surprised that the POI was the same for both cartridges at 200 yards. The 140g ELD Match hit roughly 2" higher on steel at 300 yards. The rifle has exactly 45 rounds fired through it and I was able to shoot a 7/8" group with 140g ELD at 200 yards. 120g A Max groups just under 2" at 200 yards. That is not bad for mass produced factory ammunition.

Once the barrel is broken in and I get use to the ergonomics of the RPR, I expect better results. This target rifle is definitely a keeper.

It's also not bad for a mass produced factory rifle that is affordable for most people! :ARM34:

With the RDF's I load .010 off the rifling. Waaay too long for the mag. More accurate. I use a Bob Sled. Shot at 300 yards today. Hornady case, Federal 210 primers, 37.9 gr IMR 4064, 140gr Nosler 140gr RDF. Base to ogive is 2.150". All shots on paper. First target 25 rounds in a 4x4 square, after 5 rounds scope adjustment. Second target 20 rounds in a 3 inch circle. I was extremely happy!
Range officer where I shoot ran ballistic tables for me and it showed a 7.31 in drop between 200 and 300 yards. Dialed 10 clicks on my scope to get to center of target, so table was pretty close.

Looking at the OAL you can get in those mags your looking at, you'll be ok. .010 off the rifling is 2.830 I think without looking at my load notes.

Just checked 2.830" is .010 off rifling on my RPR 6.5. Base to ogive is 2.150".

Good stuff C14.
That's what I was thinking too. Going longer to 10 thou off the lands.
She likes 41.8 of H4350 @ 20 thou with a 140g SMK at a velocity of 2675ft/sec. I forget what the CBTO is exactly.
A week before I purchased the Noslers I tried some 142 SMK's with H4350 clocking at 2725 with 42.2 grains. These shot .87 inches.
They shot well but not well enough. I have to tweek the OAL and maybe go up or down .3 grains. But then I saw the 140 Noslers and based on their B.C. I, for now, put the 142 Sierras on the back burner.
Will keep ya posted. Working up some loads tomorrow with the new RDF's

I'm using Forster neck sizing die. Ballistic chart the range officer ran for me had a 2.33 moa diofference between 200 & 300. Have not chrono'd the load but recipe from range officer shows 2715 fps.

Had to remove my new GEN II PST and send it to Vortex today. After the zeroing process I could only get 16 clicks of elevation. Checked my 3-15x44 GEN II and that elevation turret can rotate more than one full revolution.

Range officer uses the Berger 140VLD's. When I told him the BC he asked if I was sure on that. He commented how slippery those are.USNA

Keeping you posted...
Loaded up some Nosler 140grain RDF's.
Ten thou off the lands gives me a CBTO of 2.2515. To long for any magazine.
H4350 with 10 rounds at 41.0, 41.3, 41.6, 41.9, 42.2.
Varget with 10 rounds at 35.6, 35.9, 36.2, 36.5, 36.8. We'll see if Varget can be nice to 140's.
We will see.

Hey Dutchman did you just level your scope to the picatinny rail, or something else?

Big difference in our CBTO measurements. I'm gonna check mine again. Remounting my scope, zeroing tomorrow, 300 yards Sunday. If everything goes as planned. New job interview thrown in tomorrow also!

Well ordered a new accessory for my RPR. The wife didn't like shooting next to me with the factory muzzle brake so she said to do something or she wasn't going to the range with me anymore.

So yesterday I ordered a YHM Nitro 30. Was going to get a Dead Air Sandman TI but wanted something I could move around between rifles easily. I must have watched a 1000 videos of reviews on suppressors before settling on the Nitro, mainly for its adaptability.
https://yhm.net/nitro-30.html

Current wait time is around 320 days but should soon be well under that. I went through a well known company that has kiosks around the country. Their system made the paperwork process almost too easy. I was done with my photo, finger printing, and paperwork in less than 15 minutes.

Is anyone else running a can on your RPR and is there anything that I will need to know about or watch for?

I think they're all pretty much the same any more, just pick one and enjoy it. I did take the anchor brake off of the Omega because it looked bulky and really didn't do much at all for reducing recoil. This is the first suppressor I've owned so I don't have anything to compare it to but I sure do love it, my wife does as well ... so much she has one in jail as we speak.

You'll really enjoy shooting the Ruger with the suppressor I'm betting, congrats!

The load for my gen1 6.5 RPR is....
42.0 grains of H4350. 2725 ft/sec
2.2500 CBTO with 140 Grain RDF Nosler's
5.3" 10 round group at 675 yards.

I've tried all manner of factory ammo and the best stuff for my rifle is American Eagle 140gOTM.
I can't get Eld's, 142SMK's or 140 Berger Hybrids to shoot very well.
142 Grain Sierras didn't shoot that well either.
140 Noslers and 140 SMK are what my rifle shoots best.

Not much out there but,...
The 6.5 Creedmoor forum seems to come up with 2725ft/sec.
The HighRoad forum has Factory ELD 140's going 2690ft/sec.
8541Tactical has factory ELD 140's going 2675ft/sec.

All shot out of a 24" RPR.

Having just read through this entire thread I am really looking forward to taking my new 6.5 RPR out tomorrow. At the moment it has a Cabelas name brand 6.5 -20 scope on it until I decide what I want to get for it. If the weather holds I will take the chrono out and see how the numbers match up to the advertised speeds. My wife bought it for me last week as a birthday gift. That gal is a real keeper!

That Gal is a real keeper!

Took the rifle out yesterday for it's first run and after about 15 shots to get the scope dialed in I was getting sub MOA groups of 5. Ran 50 rounds through it and it simply amazes me with its ability to cluster the shots all in a neat little cluster. I've never had a rifle with that capability before.

Ha, I just cleaned my gen 1 today. Got a couple of patches of copper. That’s after 750 rounds though. I saw some weird velocities last time out so it needed a clean. It needs about 50 rounds through her before she gets back to normal.
Very very little copper. These days it’s mostly about the carbon control than worrying about copper. I wasn’t surprised.

It should have a cold hammer forged barrel on it as I think all Ruger's use them now, I have found that most CHF barrels don't copper foul as bad as cut or machined barrels because they forge it around a smooth mandrel and you don't get chatter or machine marks in the bore, that is why the best cut barrels are lapped before use.
