was a fun day. my calculations were off i thought i would have trouble dialing in at 100 yards since my rail is a 40 moa cant. I started off where i could not get on paper so i moved up to 25 yards , fired about 5 rounds to get a few inches high the. moved back to 100.
then i was shooting way high so there must be much more declination that i thought.
flummoxed on what to do next i affixed another target above, and i finally walked it down to the bullseye as you can see. these are the big 17-20 inch shoot n see targets. once i hit the round just above and left of the bullseye i went down a few moa and switched to hornady tap 168 gr, and fired a five shot group that came out nicely.
I believe all the holes would be touching if not for my lacl of skill and the horrible trigger on this thing. i plan to put a jackson two stage match trigger on soon.
the next target is mfs ammo that was cheap and did not group as well, but still much better than the ppu i sighted in with.
I am more than satified with the performance of this rifle and cant wait to load up some match loads and see what shes capable of at greater distances.

i keep the concept of "systems" in mind lately when buying new gear, so when it came time to get a more accurate rifle for the local long range matches i had several choices.
One was to drop some serious dough on a scar 17s, which i decided against.
the next choice even more expensive was a barely used hk417. i read they failed the dmr tests in germany so i scrapped that idea (not to mention sticker was $3999.00)
next i was two seconds from a pof 6.5 creedmoor but decided against a barrel burner caliber. i bet it had lots of rounds down the tube because the sticker was 2400$)
i havnt filed for my nfa stamp to turn my .300 blk pistol into an sbr as im waiting for tax season so i can send off for the suppressor in the same packet. so i decided on an sps tactical. accurate enough and has the heavy threaded barrel in a short configuration perfect for a suppressor. and that leaves more budget for add ons.
Several folks run suppressors at the matches and the only setups that do not seem unwieldy are sbrs, with even the mk12 run by a local swat sniper being too long with 18inch barrel so you can guess a 27 in barrel and a precision supressor is LONG.
shown here mk12
so here it is with scope and bipod for fun.
r700 sps tactical aac-sd
16.5 heavy barrel .308
surefire flash hider
First impressions this a handy little rifle, and with the short socom suppressor will retain that handy feature. Im going to swap this talley base for a 20 or 40 moa canted base. i figure ill lose 2-300 fps with this little barrel but being short and heavy i imagine its quite stiff.....
love this scope - weaver tactical 4-20x50mm . lots of eye relief
aics comes in tonight and viperskins will come in later this ir next week, and ill update.
one customer at lgs bought 3 of these and kept one. they said some of the hogue stocks are wonky. this one puts a good amount of pressure on the barrel at the forend.
