I have a few nice rifles, but I need better glass. Both of these rifles have Bausch & Lomb varmint/target type scopes, and they run out of elevation at 800 yards. The 308 Tikka has a really funky mount, never been able to find another one, the T3 Tikka mount does not work. Kind of like a Weaver mount, but bigger. This is a rifle built for 300m ISU shooting, a very demanding discipline, but it does just at good at 600.

The other one is a 7mm/08 with Mauser action probably built for long range benchrest shooting, bought it from a guy that inherited it from his grandfather for a song.

Have a Remington Sendero in 7mm mag as well that shoots exceptionally well at 1000 yards. I also have a Palma rifle I could shoot pretty well before my eyes gave up the ghost. And an AR15 space gun with Krieger barrel that someday I would really like to put a scope on.

Nice rifles. I think you just need a 20MOA sight base to get the added elevation to shoot past 800.

Guess I can now say I have a "precision rifle" after yesterday's range trip. Other than the scope, rings and base, there are mods to this rifle. It is a 100% out of the box Remington 700 SPS Tactical.

Here are some accuracy results:

And here is a short video of those three shots:

If you would like to keep that accuracy consistent, invest in a good bedding job for that stock, Then it will be very consistent and you'll be able to call the cold bore shot.

Now , that's a nice rifle. I have an FN A1 set up the same with the same scope. Love the old style Winchester action.

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with either the eye of the beholder or the hands of the hard holder.
