Very nice, both the rifle and the buck!! I use to hunt elk with a gentleman in Idaho who had the same rifle; it was the only rifle he had and he never missed what he was shooting at. BTW...what stain did you use on the stock prior to the tung oil? It looks great!

I use Chestnut Ridge Military Stock stain. it's alcohol based. I apply it a shade or two darker than you'd think. Make sure you let the first coat or two of tung oil dries for a good 3 or 4 days before you hit it with again.

A most excellent rifle you traded into there. It looks great, both leaning on the wall and resting against that good buck. Thanks for posting.

My very favorite bolt action sporter is a pre-64 Winchester Model 70 Standardweight in .30-06. I have a couple more Pre-64 Model 70s that are close runners-up in favoritism. I gain a lot of enjoyment out of using all three rifles.
