My two quick projects swiss k31's

I'm gathering parts right now to work on two swiss k31's in 7,5mm swiss(308"). I want to add a swiss products drill and tap scopemount and the clamp on muzzle brake on one. The other will get the dopieter sights (micrometer peep sights) and the thread on muzzle brake too. I have plenty of the swiss GP11 7,5mm ammo stashed away its suppose to be close to a match grade ammo. Since these are very accurate swiss rifles I figured they would make two awesome rifles since they were very affordable and i have 6 of them. Bill

I love the straight pull bolt action on the K31s. I wouldn't mind picking one up someday. What price do the usually go for?

I paid $99.00 + shipping from Aim for my K-31 using my C&R license. But that's been about ten years ago. I'm certain they've gone up a bit since then...

+1 on the K31s; fine rifles. I've got the Swiss Products clamp-on scope mount on mine; otherwise it's stock. Picked it up from J&G last year for around $250. And yes, the GP11 is as close to match as surplus gets :-).

Bill, one question. Why would you use the Drill/Tap mount on a k31? We make both the aluminum and the steel clamp on mounts for the k31.
I admit we do send a lot of D/T's for both the k31 and the 1911sr to our distributors, but I assume there must be a specific reason for the D/T on your k31?

I figure the drill & tap scopemount would be more solid and take more abuse. Here's one of my swiss k31's.

I'm planning to convert one to .308, re-stock, bed and scope it. Is anyone manufacturing decent .308 barrels for these?

From what I've read, it'd be cost-prohibitive to machine the cuts for the K-31. I've never seen an aftermarket barrel for these, but that doesn't mean they aren't out there. Personally I'd be happy to see a good supply of NOS Swiss barrels over here.

Good thought on the Swiss barrels. The Swiss did convert some to .308 for trials but there probably weren't many. Given the similarity in cartridge dimensions, I hadn't thought that extensive alteration would be involved. Maybe I'll get to it.

I am a K31 owner myself, good to see Latigo in the house, I am Swissboob over in the Swiss rifles forum and I do not get over there enough since I started buying into the M1a platform.

I have to ask the same question here, why not go all clamp on? Or, if you were going to seriously modify one with the DT, why not have it be the one you thread the brake on as well?

If you have the itch to permanently modify it, why not just do it to one?
