Lightweight M1A Project Part 2: Refinements and Capability Experiments

As the weight reduction phase of the build seems to have come to halt at about 7 pounds 12 ounces, it seems like it's time to make the most of the package. Which means weight will be creeping upwards, mostly!



The first improvement is the elimination of the wretchedly inaccurate 18 1/2" standard weight Criterion barrel. Found a completely unmarked...

New member in Central Fl.

Santa Claus brought me a new standard S.A. M1A1 for Christmas, just picked up another one from private seller. Need some help on this one, date & place of manufacture? markings on receiver- U.S. RIFLE 7.62 mm M1A 052991. It has a Brookfield Precision Tool - U. S. Property scope mount, and the action has been bedded. has National Match front sight-.062, National Match rear sight with BME on it, barrel has NM stamped on top, and a TRW bolt. The stock looks to be older, dark walnut oil finish....
