XXIV Corps,
Thats awesome. A pleasure to meet you. It always warms my heart a little to meet fellow 101st, especially Vietnam vets. That being said, Im always down to hear about you alls experience over there. Ive said it before and ill say it again, us infantry boys still look at you guys with admiration and a bit of wonder. Every now and again, discussions still boil down to that. Soldiers need to hear about these things, and what you gentlemen did over there.

-K. | Thanks K.,
I'm not much for taking about the past, but last year I took the wife and we went to my 40th artillery reunion (8th of the 4th FA). We met up with 125 other Vietnam Vet's and wives and had three days of talking about our time in country. I talked more about Vietnam in that three days then I had in the past 40 years, the wives all were part of our stories and talking between them as well.
I'm very happy that the 101st AB is still going strong and thank you for your servise Sir. |

I served in the 101st back in '76-'77; I was a support puke in DISCOM - 5th Trans Bn (Aircraft Maintenance). I don't think that battalion still exists, but that's been a lifetime ago.

Spent some time in C co, B co and then D co 7/159th, 2002 thru 2005. Outlaws, Varsity and Dragon-ass in that order. Was the only CH-47 Battalion in the army, reorg took care of that. Spent the most time with Varsity.

The 159th Assault Support Helicopter Battalion was formed on 1 July 1968 from the
dissolved 308th Combat Aviation Battalion. Organized as the medium and heavy lift
Assault Support Helicopter Battalion of the 101st Airborne Division, the unit was
eventually composed of three CH-47 companies (Pachyderms - A Company, formerly
the 200th Medium Lift Helicopter Company; Varsity - B Company, formerly the 272nd
Medium Lift Helicopter Company; Playtex - C Co, formerly 293rd Medium Lift
Helicopter Company) and 1 CH-54 company (Hurricanes - 478th Heavy Lift Company).
