Served with A Co., 5th Trans Bn (AVIM), Campbell Army Airfield 1980-83. Held MOS 68M20, Aircraft Weapons Systems Repairer supporting 2/17th Cav's AH-1F Cobras at Sabre Field. Went back to Ft Campbell in 2005 to visit some old friends; post looked the same...Clarksville and Hop-town sure have changed!

If your uncle was in the Battle of the Bulge and carried an M1, I may have some of his old enblocs. These were found outside of Foy, Belgium a couple of years ago by an old pen-pal of mine.

My Uncle served with the 101st. still lives near Ft. Campbell. actually in Dover, Tn. He still works on base.

Whatsinaname: I was the company cdr of both those outfits while I was there. SFC Hill and LT Flack were the Scout PSG and PL, respectively. SFC Hill went on to be CSM Hill of the 101, and then was CSM for GEN Petraeus in OIF and OEF. Good times and great Soldiers.

I was in the 101st's 1st/187th INF BTN for about six months after TDY'ing from the 82nd ABN's 325th Regiment.

Thanks to my CO at the time (Captain Lipstreur) I wasn't in the 101st for long as they had re-activated a Spec Ops Group (it was de-activated after Nam apparently) and I tested/qualified/earned a spot in it.

There and Back Again is online now
