HET (Heavy Equipment Transporter) Military Convoy

A compilation of videos and photos of the HETS (Heavy Equipment Transportation System). The Heavy Equipment Transporter System (HETS) transports tanks and other heavy tracked and wheeled vehicles to and from the battlefield. The M1070 provides line-haul, local-haul and maintenance evacuation on and off road during tactical operations worldwide.

I conducted hundreds of customs inspections on HET's while working the Kuwait/Iraq border. Truly an impressive machine.

I love the large tactical trucks.
I bought and restored a 1971 AM General, M35A2. The multi-fuel motor runs better than my modern vehicle motors.

That's the description from the TM. Drivers have to be certified by a master driver and licensed on the equipment and that's it. DOD is exempt from CDL requirements.

I'm currently a HET driver with the 257th TC (HET)(CBT). I absolutely love that truck. Its the cadillac of army trucks. It drives very different as the front and rear axles of the tractor as well as the rear four rows of bogies all turn as you streer. We have 48 tires on the ground and power out the yang. Not much speed though, tops out at 45. I had the privelage of taking one to Kingman for their fourth of July parade last year.
