John Wayne Bars in C-Rats

The circular chocolate bars that tasted like Heath bars were the best. We called them John Wayne bars.

If I could get either the pound cake and a can of peaches, ............

Or the package with the hot chocolate, instant coffee, sugar, dry creamer,...........

I was good to go on those two. The second one you just poured it all in one canteen cup of water, . . . heat & enjoy,........

Far as the rest was concerned, . . . hold your nose and shovel it in,........

May God bless,
Dwight

Never had C Rations but Ive had the old dark brown MREs and some of the newer ones, but my favorite was from the older ones, it was Chicken and Rice in BBQ Sauce, LOVED them

Next was the pork/rib patty, that was good. too

ETA and the pound cake package was damn good too

I don't have a favorite combat ration, because they are all pretty bad. When I think of food that tastes good, I think of a $40 steak or a slab of BBQ ribs...not an MRE. I've had to live off of MRE's for quite a while and all the different varieties simply start to blend together. They all start to taste the same...

One of my favorite conversations to overhear is the MRE conversation. It usually starts when guys talk about the latest MRE, something they are currently eating. Then someone else says "but do you remember the brown MREs?" This is usually followed by "duuuude yes! The 5 fingers of death! The (insert meal choice) was my favorite!"

etc

etc

etc
