| Basic Training...where? when?
Where did you go to basic training & AIT?
I went to Fort Leonard Wood, MO. I joined up at 17 years of age under the delayed entry program. I went active on my 18th B-day!
OST (One station Training) . I got to MO in early Feb 79' graduated, and finished up AIT in May. By June 17th I was in the Frankfurt 51st replacement center, getting orders cut for my 1st & only Duty station. The 9th Engineer Battalion in Aschaffenburg, West Germany.
Carry on!

Basic Training, Advanced Infantry Training, and Airborne School all right in a row at Fort Benning, GA in 1980. All three ran concurrently for me...no break at all between AIT, and Airborne School. That was quite an awakening for this then 18 year old fresh out of High School....then a ten day leave, and then some real hell in the Ranger Indoctrination Program for the 1/75th Ranger Battalion, Hunter Army Airfield, GA....this made all of my previous training look really easy.

Joined the New Hampshire ANG (Arty) in 1969 in the delayed entry program, took basic at Fort Dix NJ 1970, then AIT at Fort Sill OK. Got sick of doing nothing, so then I went active duty, changed MOS and went to Fort Benning GA. Been in and out several times, finishing my last year now. Should have stayed in and I'd have been alot better off!! I'll retire as a CSM on MSG pay. Works for me! Earned sniper, jump wings, CIB, a few medals and lots of experience! Wouldn't have traded it for all the money in the world!
