Another Split Op here (parents signed the papers on top of the milk tank in the dairy barn!). Enlisted into the Guard before going active (19D Cav Scout).
Basic, Ft. Knox, '87
AIT, Ft Knox, '88
Went active March '88 as a 97E (Interrogator/linguist) and sent to DLI (Presidio of Monterey) to learn Russian (rocked out 8 months into a 12 month stint - hey, I was just a dumb farm kid from Montana).
Sent to Bindlach, Germany with 1/2 ACR.
Sent to Ft. Carson in fall of '91 to 2/7 CAV, which was redesgnated to 1/10 CAV (we were but a single Cav Squadron attached to 4th Aviation Brigade).
ETS'd Aug93.

Feb/Mar 1969 Ft. Leonard Wood MO. Was told it's the place where you can walk up a hill, do a 180, and walk up another hill. Not sure about that, but it was cold and wet. After basic, the Army was relatively easier, including Infantry OCS and Vietnam! (I did say relatively)!!!!!!!!

Basic in 1982 Tank Hill Ft Jackson SC. First MOS 63S. Next enlistment 33R EW stuff from aviation platforms. Been all over the States, over seas was spent chasing the sandnistas around or some other south or central americans. Last four years was at Ft Bragg in the 82nd. Wish I never left. Miss the fact that the day I showed up at Bragg I had 16,000 brothers. Can't get that out here. Tired of workin for the man!!!!

Ft Jackson 25AUG1998 for basic.
Ft. Jackson 187th Ord Bat for AIT (Timeline for this is all confused since I was sent home on med leave for a broken foot I obtained in basic)
Then I was shipped to Ft. Polk in March of 1999 where I spent the next 2 1/2 years as a 63B (Light Wheeled Vehicle Mech) attached to the 2nd ACR, B Troop.

I went to Fort Benning in 2001 for OSUT as an Infantryman. I then went to Jump School down the street, and went to Fort Bragg in 3/505 PIR, 82nd Airborne. I was there until the end of 2004. And now I am in 3rd Brigade/187 INF at Fort Campbell. |
