OSUT Ft. Knox January 82 - April 82. To Honduras for 18 months then to Ft. Irwin/NTC on the OPFOR for a year then to Ft. Riley with 1st ID, 1st/4th Cav until ETS in January 86. Then Reserves then IRR until Saddam started that whole mess back in 90-91 so there was another 6 months of dust eating in Saudi, that was fun. Finally out for good after that and did I ever see the garden spots?

Basic Training at Ft Polk in May-Jun '68, then Artillery AIT at Ft Sill in Jul-Aug 68. Trained with the M14 up until the last two weeks of basic when we got "familiarized" with the M16.

A short leave then Vietnam in Sep. Went all the way through Basic & AIT as an E1, then caught up fast in SEA: E2 in Oct, PFC/E3 in Nov, SP4/E4 in Dec, then had to wait another 9 months to make SP5/E5 in Oct 69.

Fast Forward: Got out in Dec '69, finished college, joined the National Guard, went Active Guard in '85, retired in '07 with 26 years active, 39 yrs membership, lots of deployments and a year in Iraq right at the end.

Thanks from XXIV Corps, CAVman and GARRARD

Basic/AIT - Harmony Church, Ft Benning, GA, summer 1981. As I recall, we were the last cycle to be issued lizard skin fatigues. I think it was over 100 degrees every frickin day.
