I say you should request Airborne School, and then be assigned to Vincenza....when I was on active duty, the 509th Airborne Infantry Brigade was stationed there...I believe now the reactivated 173rd Airborne Infantry Regiment is stationed there. I wished I had requested that assignment, at the time, if you were stationed there as a Paratrooper, you could go to the Italian Army Airborne School, and be awarded the Italian Jump Wings....all you had to do was make the required number of jumps with the Italians, and you would receive their wings...you didn't have to take their training, and they looked pretty impressive on the uniform, over the right side of your chest. Plus Italy is supposed to be a beautiful country.

Vincenza

My sons been with them going on 9+ years and seems to like it there. 82d and 173rd are the only ones that jump now it seems. Good luck to you and God Bless!

European duty is good duty! There is a reason I stayed for almost 5 years in the same unit.( Plus it was a kickazz battalion!)

Italy was My #1 favorite to visit on my time off! Bella !!

Always heard that it was good duty. Part of the reason I reenlisted in the Army was to try to go to Europe. Never got to go, unless I was on my way to or from the sandbox.

I've had a couple of buddies stationed there in the last few years. Heard nothing but good things. Pretty sure you need jump wings first though.
