All American Week approaches !

How many of you old paratroopers will be attending All American Week at Ft Bragg next week? Its the 100th Anniversary of the 82nd Airborne Division and the celebration is going to be the largest ever. I will be there, staying on Smoke bomb Hill.

Thanks from XXIV Corps

Cool

Me thinks someone can't count - OR DOESN'T CHECK THEIR FACTS!
The 82. Abn did NOT exist until it was formed from the reactivated 82. Inf Div in either 1941 OR 42 (forget which)! The 82. Inf Div was reactivated specifically to become an airborne Div.
The 82. Inf Div was deactivated after the end of WW 1 and did not exist until reactivated to become the 82. Abn.
Thus, the 82. Abn Div is only about 77 yrs old!

Technically that should be the 82nd Division, and they are counting from the WWI activation. And they will tell you the Division was on an inactive status of some type between the two wars which was something short of totally deactivated. If I recall, when they brought it back for WWII it started as just the 82nd ID initially and was designated "Airborne" a little later.

I agree 100% , check your facts before you open your mouth. Makes you look real stupid sometimes if you don't.
