I was supposed to go to a SoM board several months ago but my old platoon was honestly pretty worthless. I got moved to PSD and they got things moving again. But they just decided to send me to the E5 board instead. Hopefully we can hold a couple mock boards to run through everything

I went in the early 80s so not much help sorry. I do remember them asking current events questions along with job specific ones, i do remember one question my First shirt asked me, "How many holes does a bowling ball have?" He was testing me if i could think on my feet, by throwing me a curve ball. One piece of advice i can give you tho is, when a member of the board asks you a question, look them in the eye while they are speaking and when you answer them. Good luck and SCOUTS OUT!! (19DP4)

I feel pretty comfortable thinking on my feet. Ill still have to focus but not get "tunnel vision" in there. Im focusing my studying on garrison related stuff for now. Well be fresh off of deployment when I go so I think they will be getting us back into that mindset.

I appreciate all the help fellas. Its good to meet another scout here too

2 years and up for E-5 speaks words. Either you're a brown noser or squared away. I'm gonna say you're squared away. Brown nosers wouldnt be worried about going to the board. lol... But seriously, just be confident, not cocky. NCO creed is how an NCO should be in uniform and in civilian clothes. By Army big brass the year of the NCO was 2009, but in reality its day in and day out. You'll do good.

Thank you. I like think Im not a brown noser lol. I've never thought of myself as mr high speed either. I figure the Armys pretty damn easy, do your job, fix people that aren't, pass a pt test and shoot haha.

And at least with the Soldier's Creed theres some kinda rhythm to it. The NCO Creed seems sort of thrown together

You can not get E-5 until you get E-4, and another thing nobody makes Buck sergeant within two years, unless you have a Father that's a General.

I am E4, and I was recommended for promotion because I'm damn good at what I do. I don't need connections to make it in the army.

Thanks GARRARD, I'll buying plenty haha

Secondary zone promotion for E-5 is 18 months TIS, 4 months TIG. And tostado22 wouldn't be going to the board if he wasn't an E-4. If you're going to try and rain on someone's parade, do some homework.
