Ammo prices will be going up soon.

Some people have been saying it but I heard it direct from one of my wholesalers (I'm an FFL) who said expect price increases as early as the end of March due to the cost of components, mainly metal costs. We have been ordering for stock for the last week or so.

Difficult as it is in this economy, it may be time to buy what you can before it goes up.

Yup - a few wholesalers already have it posted on their websites...

That doesn't make any sense to me as raw materials have plummeted on the stock market. No one is buying copper, brass, lead ext. cause noon is building anything rite now.

I'm not saying there aren't other factors that could make it go up.
I'm just saying that the VALUE of copper and brass has crashed in recent weeks.

Self-Fulfilling Prophecy:

One person says it, it's spread on the internet, there's a buying frenzy( Demand Increases) there are spot shortages ( Limited Supply) and prices rise even higher than ever with the "Middle-Men" making another panic profit...like the gas dealers.

We're doing it to ourselves.....and I still haven't come close to using all the over-priced primers, powder and brass I hoarded several years ago.

Like Lemmings marching lock-step off the cliffs.

Quite the contrary. both China and India are sucking up raw materials(commodities) as fast as they can. AFAIK, copper has been going crazy the last few months. I do agree with the original post that if you are going to make a large ammo/components anywhere in the future, the time to buy is now. dozier

Sounds like the desperate Realtors I hear all the Time"

"Buy Now before Interest Rates and Housing Prices Rise"

Market Manipulation, Poor and Simple.

Are the re-cyclers in your neighborhood paying more for old brass when you turn it in to them?

It's got to work both ways if it's a legitimate rise in commodity pricing: If it's up on world markets to buy, it's got to be up when it's turned in for sale at re-cycling centers.

Believe me, I'm not trying to start a lemming stampede (I'll leave those for Obama) I'm just passing along what my wholesale salesman told me and he is a pretty straight shooter (no pun intended). I don't sell ammo here so their is no profit motive for me. Personally I would prefer that M14/M1A folks keep the info to themselves to allow as many of the brethren to buy what they need before it goes up via supply/demand.

I already see GM308M is up about a buck from my last order.

If I had a bunch in inventory, I'd be a happy camper but it goes out as fast as I get it in. I don't even have enough for my own use at this point...

I guess you caught me... Single handedly trying to start an ammo buying frenzy for something I don't even have in stock...

Never mind, ammo prices are falling !

Carry On...

Desperate ammo dealer,,, out.

No diss intended or inferred!

Buying Advice greatly appreciated.

Prices could well be going up based solely on rising oil/gas prices and increased transportation/ shipping costs too.

Whatever the reason, nobody likes paying more. If prices are rising, who's getting it?

Ammo Makers, Wholesalers, Distributors, Retailers?

Market forces dictate they can raise it all they want, but if it doesn't sell...prices will drop until it does start selling again.

Simple Economics.

We'll see!

A strange rule I've observed is that the less money people have the more prices go up. EVERYTHING else is going up, no reason to doubt that ammo and components are in line for the same. Now whose fault that is, is open to debate.

Ammo prices going up

I just snagged 2k of Lithuwanian and 1500 Radway Green at 40 cents a round. Glad I did.
