So besides that one post has anyone else had problems with the ammo? Statistically that doesn't make sence that it was an ammo problem and only one problem has been reported from it.

New 1970's OFV at SG, any experience?

It's advertised as 1970's vintage with better QC and no problems. Has anyone tried this yet, or is Sportsman's Guide trying a slick one?

I have shot a couple hundred rounds of the Indian 70's production that came on strippers and packed in bando's, and it was alright. Shot reasonably well, and was clean. I did find it irratating that almost all the stripper clips were out of spec and would not fit in a GI stripper clip guide.
Would buy if it was priced right.
As it stands know, my next purchace will be a reloader.

Roger on the reloader Shadow, that's what i'm currently doing now. I was just looking for some stuff to put back for emergencies until I can build up a few really good loads for my tanker Garand. I've got some SA put back for my FAL, but my Garand tends to dislike the SA's longer throat. I'm down to a small amount of Aussie for the Garand.

I just received my indian 70's ammo. When I opened the can , it made a big sucking sound!, kinda like planters peanuts. It looks great, no corrosion, discoloring or mildew smell. I think maybe the guys with the horror stories were selling other surplus ammo!. I can't wait to shoot it!.

I did some digging on the 1919A4 site, the machine guns that blew up were modified to use 8mm not 7.62. Here is the orginal link and pictures.

Doing some more digging it looks like the 1919A4 blew from 308 but it was the 0FV stuff. Still digging guys.

I feel a little obligated to deposit one fact....

All of the 'info' on cetme site is posted with a rule about indian ammo. Thou shalt not say anything good about indian ammo!
It's the managements call. The owner of the site is trying to do a
public service. Though all the ammo that blew up guns is ofv 90's vintage, and or loaded into weapons not chambered for 762 nato, this is not taken into account or even able to be discussed on that forum. This is not a slam. If the site admin says 'thou shalt not say anything good about indian ammo' that's it period. I tend to look into things a little more. At least here we can have a discussion of it without it violating a board rule.
