Question .223 headstamp ID?

I have searched the usual headstamp ID sites and came up with nothing so.....

At 12:00 TDC it has what appears to be an "anchor"?? On then on each side it has an "arched line" running parallel to the rim OD and then has ".223" at the bottom...???

SO an anchor, curved lines and .223, not crimped and does have red primer sealant..... no date stampings, letters etc....

I will get a pic up later.

I have previously posted about breaking my de-capping pin in a set of dies, well it was replaced and I even purchased a de-capping die as recommended and both of these had the de-capper pins pulled out by this brass.

It seems that the flash hole is undersized and pulls the de-capper pin out when poking the spent primers out.

Any body?

TIA,

The "arched line" or curved bar or dashed line on the headstamp indicates that the Berdan primer has only one flash hole rather than two. The TDC may be a T star shape moon C, from Turkey and the hook ("anchor") is the date from a Arabic speaking country. Just a wide ass guess .

Question

I am still trying to get a good scan or pic taken, then I will post.

So, its a one hole Berdan vs Boxer? Thus the smaller diameter.... Hummmm.

I also found one piece that had a lot clearer stamping and it does look like some Arabic star over an inverted tee or something, hence an anchor looking symbol.

But other than the .223, I dont see any other letters or numbers.... foreign or domestic.

Also, the TDC that I wrote meant "top dead center", sorry about that, my automotive machining background surfaced. The "anchor" looking symbol is the only thing on top at 12:00, then the curved lines on each side and then the ".223" at 06:00.

Thanks and hopefully I can get the pic up....

LNL,
Something like this? Was given some of this to eval through Chrono about 4 years ago. 63grSC @ 3050fps. Never found out what it was either. Was accurate during the test , very close to same print as some of the FN SS109 I was testing at same time. Single flash-hole appears boxer. What is it??

Thumbs up Bingo!!!

Tailgunner,

Thats it!!!

I still couldnt get a good pic or scan.

I have about 50+ cases from a box of 1400+ that I bought on another site. All of the flash holes are alot smaller than the Boxer primed brass??

I have not been able to find any info on them and I emailed the seller and he couldnt recall either.

Whoever made it, it appears to be AP. I'd stash it.
