Looking for a 12ga. buckshot recipe...
My brother and I are trying to come up with a good recipe for some great 00 and 000 buck loads. I have bought several books but most everything deals with waterfowl loads. I have several components and would like to know what recipies you have come up with. I am looking for very clean powder. I know my preference in rifle powders runs to Vinavori, but I am completely unfamiliar with shotgun powders. How is Alliant especiall Red Dot and Green Dot. I almost have a starting point with those two powders. Also can someone with primer experience explain the difference between 209, 209A, and 209M primers? I am sure it is a burn rate or power issue, but I can't find any info as to what is what.
I have a significant amount of components to start with:
CCI 209 (600) and CCI 209M (100) primers
500-600 Federal High Power 2 3/4 00 buck shells
000 buck 5lbs (enough for about 70 loads)
00 buck 5 lbs (enough for about 70 loads)
I am looking at Federal 12S3 wads will they work well?
