My family & I have been hunting elk in CO since the sixties. .308, '06, 300 sav & .300 win mags. Everybody uses a 150gr Sierra GK. Top shelf.

I know from experience, if you are limited to a non lead bullet, shoot them through the shoulder, the deer will collapse on the spot. You'll be amazed at how hard they will hit the ground.

dantheman114 is correct here guy's... I bought me a box of .308 Nosler 150 grainers to try in my deer rifle and gave up after looking at the primers with the first shot... Some years back, though, and loads and bullets have changed...
