Are they the same or slightly different like 5.56 and 223?

Thank you. I stay away from high pressure reloads so I should be ok. I ordered 240 Rounds of .308 Win Ammo by Hirtenberger - 146gr FMJ earlier today. Now to figure out the sub sonic thing.

I don't know what 'subsonic thing' you have in mind.
Regular ammo similar to USGI M80 (FMJ ~150 grain, ~2700fps MV) will stay supersonic and not 'tumble' out to about 800 yards. The accuracy might not be what you want, but the bullet will still be stable.

they are the same. A member of my Skeet club works at the RUAG plant in town making Rottweil ammo and he confirms that the difference between .308 and 7.62 NATO is the same difference between 6 of this and half-a dozen of that.

Well, 5.56 is higher pressure than 223
but, 308 is higher pressure than 7.62

So, no, not like; closer to opposite.
